Between reading a lot and writing/editing a lot, I’ve been lax in posting/journaling here. On the flip side, I’ve been doing a LOT of long hand writing in my Buddha journal notebook and dream journaling on the iPad app that I found. All in all, I’m doing more writing than I have been in a long time. It just hasn’t translated to online lately. Time to go back to finding that balance!
What’s been changing/working?
I’ve been meditating more and more (see previous post on how that’s been an interesting change), maintaining a better focus at the gym and with my overall training. The last two weeks, after much reading in Urban Shaman and bow to life, I’ve been working on learning to relax while I’m training and allowing more energy to flow through me so that I’m actually moving the heavy bag with far more ability than I have in the past.
Nutrition has been great. Down 14 lbs since Greensboro and maintaining. Quite happy with that and not too inclined to lose much more. And, our vegetable garden has been great about offering up fresh foods to add to our meals. This is the second summer we’ve been able to claim that. Also, quite happily mostly vegetarian now (some fish, eggs and cheese still, but it’s progress). Animal protein, I’ve learned, puts me to sleep in about an hour.
People are gravitating to me and talking to me more when I’m out and about. This was a big change for me as I tend to stick to myself even in places like the gym. Now, I walk in there in the mornings and get hello’s, good morning’s and have people checking up on me…and even better, asking for advice on the holistic health front. The gym is even considering hiring me to teach several classes a week.
Where am I slacking?
- Sleep – Falling asleep isn’t the issue, staying asleep is. At least, this sporadic sleep process is allowing me to remember more and more of my dreams and for that I’m grateful, it means I have more creativity flowing into my day – it gives me bits and pieces to work with, melding into my fiction writing, which has been quiet for too long. So I guess while I’m drained physically by the evening, it is enhancing my writing so it’s a plus.
- Form – I am going to start practicing in the yard. It’s the only place actually large enough to do the infinity pattern and always available.
- Pushups – I’ve changed over to a program, teaching myself to do 100 pushups in one session on my toes. I can do them on my knees and keep up with our required counts, but with the shoulder injury, on my toes has always been an issue after a certain number, so I’m going to push myself in a different direction with them instead.
- Projects – the never ending to do list of projects, both for clients and my own. This one will never go away and I am looking at it as a continued, healthy, challenge.
I’m sure there’s more, but that’s what’s standing out in my head…plus all the thoughts and ideas flowing around my brain from my reading. Those will take a little longer to mold into a formal post. I want to go back through my notes…what I am noticing is that all of these things were all things I’ve read about or learned during my childhood/teens, it’s like I’m just coming home to them again.
Namaste, Stacia
